“Too Experienced” non è un semplice mixtape. Dalla collaborazione di due amici di vecchia data, Mr.Robinson e Princelion, nasce una selezione di tunes, di fine anni 80 ed inizio anni 90, registrate direttamente dalla collezione personale di vinili e cassette di Mr.Robinson.
Ore passate ad ascoltare vecchi album, sampler della Greensleeves, dischi della X-Terminator, Jammy’s, Power House, Techniques, Skengdon, Selekta, Ariwa, 7 inches con l’etichetta completamente bianca, nastri registrati negli anni 80 e 90, alla ricerca delle vere ‘bombe’. Così tanto materiale che scegliere è stato veramente difficile. Abbiamo però fatto una prima scrematura, cercando di ‘rispolverare’ non solo classici ma anche pezzi sconosciuti ai veri amanti del reggae.
Le imperfezioni del suono lungo tutto il mixtape si devono alla registrazione fatta direttamente da questi supporti. Queste imperfezioni però sono una delle caratteristiche che abbiamo cercato di mantenere anche nel mixaggio, per conservare il calore e le vibes delle canzoni originali.
Il risultato è stupefacente: un mixtape con il sound di anni 80 e 90, elaborato dalla nuova tecnologia.
Gustatevi queste chicchette, perché questo potrebbe essere solo il primo assaggio del lavoro di due intenditori e della loro passione per la storia passata e presente di questa musica!
“Too Experienced” is not a simple mixtape. The collaboration of two old friends, Mr.Robinson and Princelion, gave birth to a selection of tunes, from the late 80’s and the early 90’s, recorded directly from Mr.Robinson’s vinyl and cassette personal collection.
Long hours passed listening to old albums, Greensleeves samplers, X-Terminator, Jammy’s, Power House, Techniques, Skengdon, Selekta, Ariwa discs, 7 inches with white labels, recorded tapes and cassettes from the 80’s and 90’s, through the search of the real ‘big tunes’. There was so much material, that deciding what to use was a hard task. But we made a first selection, trying to capture not only the classics but also tunes unknown to real lovers of reggae music.
The imperfections of the sound throughout the mixtape reveal the material on which the songs were recorded. These imperfections are one of the characteristics that we tried to maintain also when mixing, in order to keep the warmth and vibes of the original songs.
The result is incredible: a mixtape with the 80’s and 90’s sound, elaborated through new technology.
Enjoy these gems, because this can be one first bite of the work of two veterans and their passion for the passed and present history of this music!
